Donna K. Alexander

President and CEO

Donna K. Alexander serves as President and CEO of Advoxum Global Strategies, a global business advisory firm.  She has over 30 years of experience as a leader in global financial services policy and business regulatory matters.  Ms. Alexander works closely with industry leaders and policymakers around the globe to build strategic alliances amongst industry stakeholders, and to develop business solutions to economic and regulatory challenges.  She is recognized for her collaborative approach in providing consultation to global market authorities on behalf of private sector clients.  Among other achievements, Ms. Alexander has represented private industry in the public/private initiative between G-20 officials and private sector interests to develop the Global Legal Entity Identifier System (GLEIS), a global risk management tool based on universal identification standards.  Ms. Alexander also serves on the B-20 Coalition, focusing on the Small- and Medium-Size Enterprise Development Task Force that supports the G-20 efforts on sustainable and balanced growth in the global economy.  

Prior to heading Advoxum Global Strategies, Ms. Alexander served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the global financial services association Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT).  Under her leadership, she advanced key initiatives for the international banking industry through her efforts with regional councils in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and North America.  Ms. Alexander has also spearheaded efforts to develop public/private partnerships on financial services issues that coincide with technology solutions, such as expanding development of universal, trusted e-credentials for corporate and financial services institutions.    

Ms. Alexander has testified before the U.S. Congress, and represented industry interests before senior policymakers, legislators, and regulators around the world. She served as a Chief Counsel on financial services policy while working for the U.S. Congress, practiced law with a prominent global law firm, and served as Vice President of The Bond Market Association (now Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association--SIFMA).  Ms. Alexander also was appointed to serve on the United States Export-Import Bank Advisory Committee on Sub-Saharan Africa.

As a charter member of the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council (FSSCC) for Critical Infrastructure Protection and Homeland Security, she helped launch initiatives for the protection of critical infrastructure following the September 11th terrorist attacks.  Her primary focus was on private sector preparation and sharing of best practices across the financial services industry to address events disruptive to normal business such as cyber attacks, natural disasters and terrorist attacks.  Ms. Alexander also co-authored a desk reference book on Y2K crisis management, as well as Y2K regulatory and legislative stop-gap measures that were adopted in the U.S. and abroad.

Ms. Alexander is an attorney licensed to practice in the District of Columbia and before the United States Supreme Court.  She is a member of the Bretton Woods Committee.  She also serves on the Boards of various charitable organizations and guest lectures at law schools and industry conferences.  She received a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from University of North Carolina, Greensboro.  Ms. Alexander was reared in Thailand, speaks Thai, and has studied German, French and ancient Greek.
